SESSION TITLE:  PLANTS OF THE BIBLE

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 

HANDOUTS OF PLANTS ON DISPLAY WITH BIBLICAL REFERENCES,PLANT MATERIALS FROM THE THERAPEUTIC BIBLICAL GARDEN: CUTTINGS, FROM PAPYRUS, TAMARISK TREE, SAFFRON CROCUS, IVY, BAY TREE, RUTA, ACANTHUS, MINT, TULIP, WILD ROSE, GRAPE VINE, HOLY HOCK, CORRIANDER , BLACK MUSTARD etc.

  

GOALS:

  1.  TO ESTABLISH A CONNECTION BETWEEN PLANTS AND SPIRITUAL CONNECTIVITY
  2. TO FOSTER SOCIAL INTERACTION
  3. TO MAITAIN PHYSICAL  FUNCTIONING

 OBJECTIVES:

 

  1. UPON REQUEST, PATIENT WILL HOLD PLANT MATERIAL OF CHOICE, READ ITS PASSAGE FROM BIBLICAL TEXT AND EXPLAIN HOW IT RELATES TO HIS OR HER SITUATION.
  2. DURING THE SESSION, PATIENTS WILL SOCIALLY INTERACT WITH PEERS AS NOTED BY CONVERSATION AND SHARING PLANT MATERIALS.
  3. UPON REQUEST, PATIENT WILL HOLD PLANT MATERIALS IN HIS OR HER HAND AND LIFT HAND INTO AIR FOR 10 SECONDS.

 

PROCESS:

                  GATHER PLANT MATERIALS AND HAND OUTS. PLACE PLANT MATERIALS ON ACCESSIBLE TABLE. ASSEMBLE GROUP OF PATIENTS IN OUT DOOR CLASSROOM AREA HAVE EACH PATIENT CHOOSE A PLANT TO WORK WITH. PASS OUT SPECIFIC HANDOUTS FOR EACH PLANT. HAVE PATIENTS READ HAND-OUT AND EXPLAIN TO GROUP WHAT THE PASSAGE MEANS TO HIM OR HER. OFFER FEEDBACK AND ENCOURAGEMENT AS NEEDED. SUMMARIZE SESSION.
